Thanks to all of you who braved the cold yesterday and made it to my Bagolita party! I had a great time and hope you did too! For anyone who couldn't make it and still want to order, I have to close the show by Friday morning. Call or email me if there's anything you still need ;o)
Thanks again everyone!
Who's gonna go see it with me????
One more day, then we can sit back and watch TV without the barrage of political advertising!
I'm not hugely into politics. Honestly, I haven't even voted since I was 18 (I think...it was SOOOO long ago) and had the excitement of casting my first vote. I know, I know....
But, this year is different. This year I've never been more sure about who I'd like to see become president. This is the first year I've actually WANTED to pay attention to the debates, and did.
I'm not going to get all political on you, so don't worry :o)
Just thought I'd share a short video:
...I'm tired. 'Night (uhhh, day?) all!
BTW, TTMMH = Things That Make Me Happy
Oh...BTW = By the way ....because I know my reading audience, all 2 people in its entirety, needed clarification.
Yes, Bagolitas. What the heck are they, you ask. They're frilly little purses (and some big ones) that are so fun to have. I think I have a Bagolita for every mood! Don't feel frilly? They even have purses without the frilly fringe to keep you happy in your no-frill mood. They're made of upholstery fabric in all sorts of patterns ranging from subtle neutral tones to wild and crazy color.
Check out their website: http://www.bagolitas.com .
And here's an article the Quad City Times did on them this summer:

In fact, I just happen to be host(ess)ing a Bagolita party at my house Sunday November 9th, 2-4pm if anyone would like to come! Oh come on, the guys are all going to be watching football anyways. I can't guarantee MONSTER margaritas this time, but snacks and some sort of (tame) beverage will be supplied. Anyone is welcome...unless I don't know who you are...that might be kind of awkward.
OK, I got my Bagolita party plug in...and my first TTMMH item on the list!
I'm already feeling happier!
AAAAAHHHHHHH!
I'm swamped with homework that I need to finish, my house is a DISASTER area (FEMA should really come check it out!), and even though I have to work tonight, I can't fall asleep because it's too sunny!
So instead of fueling my mind with productive things like homework and mopping, I'm going to do something fun. God only knows how long it's been since I've shoved all stress aside and did something fun just for the heck of it!
Ok...so maybe it was only a couple of weeks ago when I went to a Bagolita party at Las Agaves with Rachael and we had YUMMY margaritas (yes, the huge one in my Facebook photo!!!) and later realized my parents and aunt & uncle were sitting behind me a couple of tables back making fun of the girl (me with my back to them) with the HUGE margarita...
Hey, like the Hardee's commercial says, "if you're gonna go, go all out", although I'm not really feeling that this is angus related in any way.
I ramble...
Like I said, I'm going to do something fun and relaxing. Instead of blogging about problems, stress, health issues...blah blah blah...I'm going to start a series of "What makes me happy" Oh, I'm sure you haven't read the last of my problems, but it's time for some happy stuff for a change!
For the next few days, I'm going to take 5 minutes, at least, out of my day to blog about something that makes me happy, whether presently or from the past. Feel free to chime in with comments if you have anything to add to any of the posts!
Sunday was LeClaire's Cemetery Walk. It was a very cool (figuratively speaking, as it was a hot 85 degrees) event in which people represented historical grave sites by dressing as and playing the role of the individuals who were buried there. Clayton played the role of Artie Wasson, the 4-year-old son
of a steamboat captain, who tragically drowned in the Mississippi River. He played on a rocking horse next to his headstone while people walked from grave site to grave site, and even saluted them all as they walked by. He had a lot of fun.
My dad portrayed a Confederate soldier by the name of Charles Parker. He played the part so well, I didn't even recognize him at first from a short distance!
Mom was Nancy Huffman-Smith , who is actually a descendant of ours. She had on a vintage dress and walked around barefoot. Nathan threw on a Captain's cap and played the role of Clayton's steamboat captain father. There were about a dozen other grave sites involved as well. A trolley took people around and gave them an historical account of other grave sites within the cemetery, and everyone could get on and off the trolley at any site. It was just a really fun and unique event.
